The Wilier Granturismo SLR proves that endurance does not have to come at the expense of performance. The Granturismo SLR is a truly elite road bike that is as comfortable as it is fast. Its lightweight carbon fiber frame has torsional stiffness and responsiveness numbers that are on par with some of Wilier’s racing road bikes. This was accomplished using their HUS-MOD carbon mixture along with Liquid Crystal Polymer. This is a special fiber incorporated in the carbon mesh, adding vertical elasticity and torsional stiffness. A carbon monocoque handlebar completes the frame, making the Granturismo a complete carbon road machine that is as fast and capable as it is comfortable.
To keep the Granturismo SLR so comfortable despite its high level carbon build, Wilier incorporated their Actiflex 2.0 technology. This is a vibration dampening system that allows the rear wheel to have up to 5mm of vertical travel. This small system allows riders to fly over bumps and varied terrain much easier. The new positioning of the Actiflex system keeps it out of the way of dirt, mud, and water, helping it remain functional at all times. A simple double screw locking system keeps it secure while making it easy to access. The travel on the rear wheel is made of a viscoelastic elastomer which reduces the frame weight by about 20 grams compared to previous models. The Actiflex 2.0 is a small piece in size that makes a world of difference to your ride.
The frame of the Wilier Granturismo SLR takes both racing geometry and comfort into account. It has a slightly shorter top tube than you might find on a traditional racing bike as well as a slightly higher stack height. This reach and stack combination provides a more comfortable position and eliminates the need for spacers. This creates a more integrated and sleek system that feels more like a racing bike than a stacked up endurance bike. The ability to equip tires up to 32mm also means more comfort without ignoring speed. The Wilier Granturismo SLR is made to go fast and feel great.
Wilier believes that 1x use will increase in the near future, even for endurance bikes. That is why they made the derailleur support removable on the Granturismo SLR. For the 1x assembly, the derailleur support is replaced with a flat plate to keep the uniform look of the bike after the change is made. Please note that the frame is only compatible with electronic groupsets. This is a high level version of the Granturismo, equipped with a 12-speed Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 system for some of the best electronic shifting on the road. The Wilier Granturismo SLR is the perfect example of how to enhance comfort without sacrificing speed.
